We keep you updated on the latest Tlingit music from dance group Xaaga-naa.
Welcome
We are glad to present to you the
Xaaga-naa dancers of Klawock Alaska, known for their courageous spirit of warrior-ism,
power performances
and excellent theatrical delivery.
Xaaga-naa dancers perform predominantly songs written by their leader Emaleen Charles, in addition you may also hear them preform a
traditional clan song in honor of our elders,
heritage and Tlingit history.
Xaaga-naa formed in 2005 by Theodore & Alicia Roberts on Prince of Wales island, Alaska. Theodore named the group “Xaaga-naa,” the Tlingit translation is “Warrior.”
"Our goal is to keep the culture alive via songs and dance for generations to come, while inspiring other local Tlingit towns to start their own groups.
Our Gaanx-adi chief: Taigahait James Roberts Sr, our elder: Alicia Roberts, and dance leader Emelene Charles who composed over 68 songs for the dance group.
